I wanted to make one more post for tonight that was kind of about something. So I have been living in my apartment for a little over 2 years and I hate it here. When I first came by after I got back from overseas and decided to stay living near the town I grew up in I liked these apartments and I didn't feel like the rent was too outrageous. Especially considering there is a pool. I plan on moving out when this lease is up. My rent started at $785 if I remember correctly. Then in 2021, it increased to $825 still not too bad. This year my rent went up to $940. That to me is a bit much considering you have to pay for a bracelet to use the pool, you pay for a key to use the tiny exercise room, and all the appliances are not so great.
I live in a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom 1,268 SF upstairs apartment. I pay for water, electricity, gas, and sewer. So at this point, I pay $940 for rent, water is anywhere from $50-$75, and electricity and gas are anywhere from $200-$300. Altogether that's at least $1300. It's myself and my 4 children. The older kids have their own room and I share my room with the 2 younger kids. So I haven't even added groceries, household items, diapers, daycare, cable, internet, phone, or renters insurance. I feel that when they built these apartments they were not thinking more than 3 or 4 people would be living in this apartment. Especially if those people were going to be children because everything is too small. I could go on about the size but I'm sure y'all get the picture. If I wanted to move into a 4 bedroom I would have to pay a deposit even though I'm a current tenant.
As well as the layout for the 4 bedroom has both bathrooms next to each other in the hallway. I mean next to each other on the same side of the hallway. In my 3 bedroom, there is a hall bathroom and the other is in the primary bedroom. So who thought that putting 2 bathrooms like that was a good idea? I don't understand how adding a bedroom means both bathrooms are now in the hallway. I lived in public housing before and my apartment was better and larger than this. My main 2 issues are all the drafty doors that every bug finds its way in and just the fact the rent is increasing but there aren't any improvements being made.
My whole goal for next year is to work towards buying a hose because at least then for the amount of money I pay to rent I would own it eventually. Plus all the rules they put on renters are getting to be too much. I want something I can truly make my own. I'm not trying to down living in an apartment I'm just saying that living in this apartment complex has made me never want to rent again. Don't worry I plan on giving an apartment tour on my youtube channel soon so you guys can see it for yourself. Well, it's late but luckily my first formation is a little late again tomorrow so I'm going to head to bed hopefully if not I'll work on another one of the drafted posts I have saved.
Unapologetically,
K
